ABBOTSFORD BC – The Abbotsford HEAT (10-8-3) will host the New York Islanders affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (9-10-1) in AHL action this evening in the Fraser Valley.
The Heat are 5-3-2 at home through their first ten games at the AESC, and are coming off a split versus their division rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Dogs won Wednesday’s game over the HEAT 2-1, while the HEAT prevailed in the opener by the margin of 4-1. Abbotsford is 6-4 over their past ten games and sit in third place in the North Divison, one point ahead of the Manitoba Moose and one point behind the Bulldogs.
The Tigers are currently 3-5-1 on the road this year and 3-6-1 over their past ten games. Bridgeport is 5th in the Atlantic Division with nineteen points, three points back of Springfield and a playoff spot. The Tigers are playing better as of late, as they have not lost in regulation (2-0-0-1) over their past three games. Left winger Trevor Smith is a player to keep an eye on from a local standpoint. The North Van BC product has six goals and 10 points for the Tigers so far this season.
