Abbotsford, BC – The Abbotsford Heat and CIVL 101.7 FM (University of the Fraser Valley’s campus community radio station) announced a partnership today that will see a pair of Heat games broadcasted in the New Year.
The broadcast of two day games on January 16th at 2:00 PM PST from San Antonio, Texas and March 6th at 10:30 AM at the AESC will afford CIVL personnel a unique opportunity to work with the Heat’s broadcaster, Ryan Pinder in delivering a professional hockey game to the community. Dustin Ellis Co-founder and President, CIVL Board of Directors surmised “CIVL is excited to be involved in opportunities to increase access for UFV students, and the community.”
Heat President Ryan Walter commented “The Heat is excited to engage with the student body at CIVL and the UFV while giving our fans in Abbotsford a full schedule of games broadcasted locally.”
The morning start on March 6th is in coordination with the Abbotsford School District. Heat staff have been working with the school district staff to create an educational outing for students in grades six to eight. Teachers will be encouraged to bring their students to the game with a goal of blending the excitement of a professional hockey game with curriculum specifically designed for this experience.
The Heat host the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday and Saturday with puck drop at 7:00 PM for both games at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. You can catch the pre-game show half an hour prior to puck drop on Country 107.1 in the Fraser Valley, and online at theAHL.com.
