Shortly after the scrap, Team White went ahead by two goals when Michael Ferland took a David Eddy pass and scored on a breakaway.
With just 2:42 remaining in the third period, Team Red cut the deficit to one goal. Ruegsegger setup Jamie Fritsch in the high slot, who beat Danny Taylor for his only goal against on the evening.
With less than two minutes remaining, a timeout was called by Team White who led the game by one. White held on to win the game despite being outshot 29-19.
Team Red finished the night with one goal on seven power play opportunities, while Team White made good on one of three chances. Team Red had a five-on-three man advantage in the first period for over a full minute, but were thwarted by Barry Brust who made numerous quality saves.
Leland Irving played the first period for Team Red, stopping 9 of 10 shots before Alex Evin and Grant Rollheiser closed out goaltending duty in the second half. Barry Brust and Danny Taylor each allowed a single goal in 30 minutes of play, and combined to give Team White the win.
Heat Training camp is now closed, with the first cuts expected on Saturday, and the regular season opening in less than a week.
