Hot Home Point Streak

The Heat extended their home point streak to nine games on Tuesday night. So far this season they have earned 16 of a possible 18 points at the AESC, scoring 31 goals on home ice, while allowing just 11 against.

Rookie Brett Olson Playing With Poise

25-year-old Duluth, MN native Brett Olson was signed by the Heat on October 8th, 2012 following an impressive training camp. Olson has found a home on a line with Quintin Laing and Ben Street, and has proven himself as a dependable AHL forward thus far.

The rookie has recorded one goal and five assists in eleven games-played this season, and earned a regular spot in Head Coach Troy G. Ward’s lineup, despite the Heat carrying 18 forwards. Olson set two milestones on October 26th at Lake Erie, recording his first professional three point game, and scoring his first AHL goal in the Heat’s 5-3 victory. Olson earned second-star honours for his performance. When asked about Brett Olson’s play this season, Troy G. Ward said: “He is a really good faceoff guy, that’s first and foremost. And second of all, he’s got enough moxie and skill to him that he can make a lot of plays, as we’ve seen in a short amount of time. He’s responsible defensively, so he fits in well right with Quintin Laing and Ben Street on that line, and he’s really given us some good minutes, so we’re real lucky to have him and we’re real proud to have him.”
