Divisional Look

The Heat remain in top spot in the North Division, having earned 31 points in 21 games. On Sunday afternoon, the Heat take on the Toronto Marlies, who currently hold down second place in the division and have won their last three games played. The Heat have faced the Marlies three times this season, winning both games in a two game home set, before losing in Toronto on November 18th. Abbotsford has played the third place Lake Erie Monsters four times in 2012-13, earning seven of a possible eight points. The fourth place Rochester Americans are set to host the Heat on December 11th, with the Americans looking to earn a win after losing to the Heat 3-2 on November 16th. Rounding out the division are the Hamilton Bulldogs, who carry a 2-1-0-0 record when playing the Heat this season. The Bulldogs visit the AESC again on January 15th and 16th.

When asked by Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun about the status of Sven Baertschi, Flames Assistant GM John Weisbrod said: ““He had some symptoms the night of the game that would be consistent with getting hit, but it would be over-stating it that he had a concussion.”

Depleted Forward Ranks

The Heat have faced some injuries of late, with Prince George native Ryan Howse earning a call-up from the Utah Grizzlies to bolster the forward ranks. Lance Bouma, David Eddy, and Akim Aliu have been out long-term, with Ben Walter and Sven Baertschi sitting out the last two games after being injured last Friday. Michael Ferland is also out of the lineup due to injury.
