FLAMES NAME JAY FEASTER ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

For Immediate Release

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames Executive Vice President & General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today that Jay Feaster has been appointed Assistant General Manager.  Feaster joins the Flames organization to build on his decorated managerial career which includes a Stanley Cup Championship as General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004 and a Calder Cup Championship as the President of the Hershey Bears (American Hockey League) in 1997.

"We have contemplated additional hockey management resources for sometime," said Sutter. "We are pleased to have someone of Jay's experience and track record become part of our executive group. He will make important contributions to our organization."

Feaster joins Senior Vice President & Assistant General Manager Michael Holditch as central figures with the Flames hockey management group.

"I am very pleased to join such a first-class organization as the Flames, and I truly welcome the opportunity to work with Darryl and his entire hockey department staff," said Feaster. "Having managed in the NHL, there were not many situations that would have been attractive in an AGM role; however, the minute Darryl phoned me I was ready to sign-on. My family and I look forward to making Calgary our new home."

The 47 year old native of Williamstown, PA was originally named General Manager of the Lightning on February 10, 2002. In addition to a Stanley Cup championship, the Lightning won back to back Southeast Division titles in 2002-03 and 2003-04. Feaster was named the 2004 Sporting News NHL Executive of the Year based on a vote of other NHL GMs and hockey executives. Prior to being named General Manager, he spent three seasons with the club in the Assistant General Manager's position. In that capacity, Feaster was responsible for all contractual, collective bargaining and NHL legal issues, as well as the organization's scouting department and its developmental league affiliates.

To join the Lightning, Feaster resigned his post as President of the Hershey Bears and Vice President of Hershey Entertainment. In that capacity, Feaster oversaw the operations of the Bears, the Hershey Wildcats professional soccer team and Hersheypark Arena/Stadium, including the star Pavilion.

Feaster, who spent nine years with the Bears, led the team to a division title (1993-94) and a Calder Cup Championship (1997), while establishing three consecutive single season attendance records (1991-92 to 1993-94) and entering into a five year affiliation agreement with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche. For his work, he was named the AHL's Executive of the Year in 1997. He originally joined Hershey Entertainment as Assistant to the President in 1989 and was named General Manager of the Bears and Hersheypark Arena/Stadium in 1990. Prior to joining Hershey Entertainment, Feaster practiced law with the firm of McNees, Wallace & Nurick in Harrisburg, PA. Feaster is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Susquehanna University and a Cum Laude graduate of the Georgetown Law Center in Washington, DC.

Jay and his wife, Anne, have five children - Theresa (18), Bobby (16), Libby (14), Ryan (9) and Kevin (5) and will make their move to Calgary this summer.
