Game Night – Heat vs. Marlies

Abbotsford BC – The Abbotsford Heat will face off against their division rivals as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, in American Hockey League action this week in the Fraser Valley…
Abbotsford was able to snap their six game winless streak with a 3-2 shootout win over the red hot Chicago Wolves on Friday night at the AESC. Evan Barlow, Garth Murray and Colin Stuart supplied the shootout goals while David Shantz stopped the last six shots his faced in the shootout to secure the victory for the HEAT.
The Heat is now 22-23-4-3 on the season and remains one point behind Lake Erie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division.
The Toronto Marlies need to kick start their stretch drive against the HEAT if they want any shot at the AHL playoffs. The Marlies are six points back of the HEAT and seven out of a playoff spot heading into this key divisional double header. A pair of wins would vault them right back into playoff contention and give the HEAT one more team to look at as they head out on their mammoth nine game road trip beginning this Friday in Rochester versus the Americans.
Toronto will bring a familiar face back to the Fraser Valley as Keith Aulie returns to face his former team for the first time since being traded along with Dion Phaneuf to Toronto from the Flames organization just over a week ago. Aulie will be wearing #33 in the blue and white Marlies colours…
